Renovating architectural spaces is the ultimate in "Reclaiming" art.

The Request:
Design a year round sunroom off of the home owner's dining room that provides a place to enjoy the scenic views; a quiet place to read a book or assemble a puzzle. A room that can be used to enjoy music - both listening and playing (so being able to close the room off would be a nice plus!) Also, the room should provide a place for extra dining when the extended family gathers and a place to assemble sewing projects - so lots of flat worktop when required.
The Result:
A room with windows on three sides, a cozy seating area, a corner dining nook and a sewing corner with task lighting. Layers of fabric, warm wood tones and supple leather seating provides the room warmth, while clean lines and appropriate scale furniture keep the space comfortable and inviting.
The corner dining area provides a comfortable place to enjoy breakfast, assembly a puzzle, work on a laptop or layout a sewing pattern. Pendant lighting grounds the space, while providing task lighting, the leather booth seating is comfortable, speaks to the seating area opposite and is just fun! The mirrors help bounce light around and allows all sitting around the table to enjoy the scenic view.
The far left corner above provides just enough space to house a sewing machine table complete with task lighting. Beyond, behind the curtains, is a sliding door which provides access to the new pergola courtyard and the covered patio beyond.
The sliding pocket doors allow the room to be closed off for semi-privacy. When the home owners have a full house, the doors can be completely concealed within the walls and the dining room table can be extended through the opening providing even more dining seating!
The warm walnut cathedral ceiling adds drama to the space both night and day. The wood soffit that runs the perimeter of the room not only hides the hardware for the two layers of window treatments below, it also houses accent cove lighting for dramatic effects at night.
In the day, the curtains can be drawn back allowing the natural light to shine. A layer of sheers hides beyond to soften late day glare or just provide some privacy during the day. When the window treatments are fully drawn back, the outdoors become a part of the space. The large windows open the view and the sliding door allows for quick access to the outdoors.
